My grandpa was David Naymark. He published the Duluth Guide which he distributed to all of the motels/hotels around the Lake from approx. 1950 until 1965.

As a very young child, I stayed at the Chippewa Lodge. This was about 1953 or 1954. I remember the Sleeping Giant just like in the photo above, and I waded into the Lake right where those kids are right now in the photo. So this is quite a meaningful photo to me.

Can you put up some historical pix of the lodge back in the 60's? So many fond and fun memories of our vacations there. And maybe a few of the pavilion - with the counters and such - had many a meal there. And I can't forget the old juke box that was in there. I can see everything in my mind the way it was......right down to the small gift shop. Oh the fun we had!

Chippewa is a place I've been going to since I was a little boy. It holds fond memories for me and every time I go there it just relaxes me. There's nothing like a walk around the park in the fall - such a bitter sweet feeling for me.

I was 12 when our family moved to Sandy Beach, Chippewa Park. It was wonderful to grow up and have Lake Superior as our front yard. My brother and I had so many adventures living in chippewa park. The trails up the mountain looking over the lake, and then there was the merry go round and roller coaster at the park, it sure was fun! I have now lived in alberta for last 15 years, thunder bay is still in my heart!

I started going to Chippewa Park as a child with my brothers, my mother and my grandma. We went every summer, stayed in the cabins, and had a blast. We have since kept the tradition alive with my kids, and my mom and grandma. Unfortunately, we lost my grandma last year, but our reservations are already made for July. Thank you to Chippewa Park to giving my family the chance to spend this time together in todays busy world.
